This workshop is designed to help and encourage clinicians, social workers and case managers to view girls through a different kind of lens. By understanding the physiology of girls we can become clear on how and why “girls will be girls” and how we can encourage them to be confident, competent and connected to themselves and others. Through Michael’s years of practice and research on girls, this workshop will offer a comprehensive and dynamic way of viewing and understanding our girls. The workshop will also include how to translate this understanding on a programmatic level and what elements of connection are essentially important in the nature, nurture and culture of female adolescents and young women.
Michael Gurian is a marriage and family counselor in private practice and the New York Times bestselling author of twenty-six books published in twenty-one languages. The Gurian Institute, which he co-founded, conducts research internationally, launches pilot programs and trains professionals. As a social philosopher, Michael pioneered efforts to bring neuro-biology and brain research into homes, schools, corporations, and public policy. A number of his books have sparked national debate including The Wonder of Boys, The Wonder of Girls, Boys and Girls Learn Differently!, and Leadership and the Sexes.
